IT Asset Lifecycle Management

Figure 1: Why IT Asset Management |
What is Asset Management?
It is managing the lifecycle of your IT hardware and software assets using business best practices as defined by the IT Information Library (ITIL) or International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers, Inc. (IAITAM), to manage your assets efficiently and cost effectively.
Most organisations today fragment and decentralise Asset Management with responsibility often divided across IT, the finance department, lines of business, the service providers and even their software and hardware vendors. Everyone usually has a different and often isolated opinion.
There are key business benifits with the centralisation of IT Asset Management responsibility, whether accomplished through automation or physically centralised control for example; the efficiencies gained deliver significant operational and capital cost savings and create better overall utilisation and flexibility across your IT Asset Base. |
